Hearing loss affects more than 1.5 billion people worldwide, and for many, current hearing aids still struggle in everyday noisy environments. Our research is exploring how artificial intelligence (AI) can move beyond simple amplification to create truly personalised hearing solutions tailored to how each individual’s ears processes sound. By taking part, you will contribute to research that has the potential to transform communication and improve quality of life for millions of people.
If you choose to take part, you’ll be helping us better understand real listening experiences – both with and without hearing aids – and how new AI-driven approaches can improve them.
You’ll complete a short online form and attend up to two sessions (up to 2 hours each) at the Australian Hearing Hub at Macquarie University. During your visit, we’ll carry out some hearing tests and ask you to listen to sounds and speech in different listening situations. You’ll provide feedback about what you hear and we’ll walk you through everything step by step.
By participating, you’ll play an important role in helping us create smarter, more personalised hearing technology that could change the way people experience the world.
